The recipients of our 2023 GrantTank program are organizations that have proven strength and leadership in the fight against sexual violence.
Allies Against Slavery builds platforms and partnerships that accelerate data-driven solutions to human trafficking. They believe in a future where every community has the data they need to make victims visible and prevent human trafficking. Allies focuses on scaling their Lighthouse platform nationally to help identify victims, coordinate care, and understand trends in data.
With Dr. Bouché and AnnieCannons, another GrantTank recipient, Allies Against Slavery and their experienced team leaders will integrate data from over 2,000 federal cases with the data in Lighthouse, producing new analyses, insights, and research for Lighthouse users and the public.
Becoming a GrantTank recipient enables Allies Against Slavery to broaden their reach and impact in the United States. With increased funding, their innovative software, Lighthouse, will better educate direct service providers of the need in their area, inform nonprofits of surrounding services for increased collaboration, and improve overall understanding of the domestic human trafficking crisis, so we might be better equipped to fight it.
The Partnership to End Human Trafficking (PEHT) is a nonprofit organization that provides survivors of human trafficking a pathway toward healing and independence through community outreach, residential recovery, and economic empowerment.
Connecticut has a critical lack of available emergency shelter for victims of trafficking. This has not only created a crisis of homelessness for those exploited by sex trafficking, but it has also exacerbated the challenge of providing stabilization services to survivors while they identify sustainable housing options. Global PEHT requested funding for emergency shelter, residential stabilization, and the staff and administration necessary to provide a continuum of care to survivors in their region.
Becoming a GrantTank recipient means that Global PEHT will better assist trafficking survivors in their transition from “the life” into “program life.” Survivors often need a period of intensive case management to achieve the basic levels of stability necessary to participate in a residential program, and now Global PEHT is better able to offer that trauma-informed care.
The mission of My Life My Choice is to provide survivor-led solutions to end commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) by focusing on preventing, disrupting, and ultimately ending the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). My Life My Choice believes that everyone has a fundamental human right to live their lives free from exploitation—without fear that others will prey on their vulnerabilities. Their comprehensive, field-tested programming empowers young people who have experienced exploitation to take ownership of their lives, builds a strong network of responsive providers in their communities, and serves as a model for communities across the country.
My Life My Choice aims to provide access to rental assistance for the young adults they serve, ages 18-25. Their goal is to stabilize these young adults as they transition to economic self-sufficiency, as they know that many services and systems geared towards minors drop off when youth turn 18, leaving them particularly vulnerable to homelessness and re-exploitation.
Becoming a GrantTank recipient enables My Life My Choice to empower members of marginalized populations through its three core programming areas: Survivor Empowerment, Prevention Education & Solutions, and Training & Advocacy. Their ultimate goal is to change not only lives, but the structural inequities that give rise to and allow CSEC to persist in our communities and across the nation.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization dedicated to creating a world where all can live and love free from sexual abuse and exploitation. They expose the links between all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation, a holistic approach that deals with the complete problem—i.e., mass-scale prevention—rather than just the symptoms.
GrantTank support from The Jensen Project will help NCOSE continue the work they implemented in 2023 to build awareness about relevant federal legislation and state legislation while educating policymakers on research regarding sex trafficking and prostitution. Training and mobilization of survivors with lived experience undergird all activities.
New Friends New Life (NFNL) is the only organization of its kind operating both a comprehensive Women’s Program, a Men’s Advocacy and Education Program, and a drop-in Youth Resource Center (YRC) in the Dallas area that serves those aged 12-22. New Friends New Life restores and empowers trafficked and sexually exploited teen girls, women, and their children and drives awareness of the issue and its prevalence. By providing access to education, job training, interim financial assistance, mental healthcare, and spiritual support, New Friends New Life (NFNL) helps women and children overcome backgrounds of abuse, addiction, poverty, and limited opportunities.
The YRC serves female youth ages 12-22 through the Steps to Success program: Little Yellow (12-14), Monarch (15-17), and Queen (18-22). This grant will directly serve young adults ages 18-22, in the “Queen” step, through counseling, case management, legal aid, employment, and education support. The YRC identifies and uses strengths to help youth in each step create a plan for safety, independence, and new possibilities for their lives.
Becoming a GrantTank recipient means that New Friends New Life can offer young women with the support they need to thrive in their lives. When faced with destitution, young women may be more easily coerced into reentering The Life, or entering it for the first time. The YRC will help each member identify their struggles, itemize them, and conquer them, as well as provide a safe place to talk through their issues at home or to hang out and just be.
Rights4Girls works to change the narrative and policies that punish girls impacted by gender-based violence and advocates for solutions that provide girls and young women with access to safety, justice, and support. They do so by centering the voices and experiences of marginalized girls to ensure that their lives are contemplated in mainstream conversations around justice reform and gendered violence and that their needs are prioritized. Their work includes public education campaigns, policy development and advocacy, research, training and technical assistance, and coalition building.
Funding from The Jensen Project will enable Rights4Girls to promote survivor-centered justice reform across the country, increase public awareness and understanding of partial decriminalization policies as the common-sense, survivor-centered approach to sex trade policy reform in the media and public discourse, and fight to stop full decriminalization efforts from being passed or implemented in any jurisdiction as these efforts continue to arise.
World Without Exploitation (WorldWE) is the country’s leading national coalition dedicated to ending human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation (HT-CSE). WorldWE seeks to challenge and change the policies and systems that perpetuate the commodification of people. They focus on solutions that address the underlying causes that contribute to sexual exploitation. They have united hundreds of diverse partners from across the country in their collective efforts to drive a national agenda, leverage partnerships, and ultimately change laws, policies, and perspectives about HT-CSE.
GrantTank support from The Jensen Project will help WorldWE continue and expand their collaborative approach and critical proactive policy work in support of the Equality Model and to elevate their mobilization efforts in opposition to Full Decriminalization initiatives in critical states.
A yearly grant program, funding up to $2 Million to advance opportunities for agencies who serve adult female survivors of human trafficking.
